Wearing Scriptures – Living In A Meditative State

Welcome to Day 11 of our journey into Christian meditation! Today, we explore a transformative concept: wearing Scriptures. Just as we dress for the day, we must also clothe our spirits with the Word of God, allowing it to guide our thoughts, actions, and interactions throughout the day.

What does it mean to wear scriptures?

Wearing Scriptures means keeping a specific Bible verse in your consciousness as you go about your day. It’s like putting on spiritual armor or wearing a fragrant perfume—something that lingers and influences your atmosphere.

The Bible tells us in Matthew 4:4, “Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God.” By carrying the Word with us, we create an ongoing meditative state that grounds us in God’s promises and aligns us with His purpose.

How to wear scriptures:

  1. Choose a Verse: Start by selecting a verse that resonates with your current needs or challenges. For example:

    • Facing a difficult task? Meditate on Philippians 4:13: “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.”

    • Seeking favor? Reflect on Psalm 5:12: “Surely, Lord, you bless the righteous; you surround them with your favor as with a shield.”

  1. Meditate on the Verse: Throughout the day, remind yourself of the Scripture, visualizing its truth in your life.

  2. Layer Your Scriptures: Just as you might layer clothing for different weather, you can “layer” Scriptures depending on your circumstances. For instance, pair a verse on favor with one on protection or wisdom.

  3. Be Proactive, Not Reactive: Don’t wait for challenges to arise. Prepare yourself by choosing Scriptures that align with God’s promises for your life, not just your immediate feelings.

The power of carrying the Word.

Wearing Scriptures transforms your mindset and interactions. When you carry the Word, you are not just thinking about God—you are embodying His presence. John 1:1 reminds us, “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.” When you wear the Word, you carry God with you wherever you go.

Practical Examples

  • In a Meeting: Wear verses that affirm your confidence and clarity, such as 2 Timothy 1:7: “For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.”

  • Facing Uncertainty: Meditate on Jeremiah 29:11: “For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”

Join the Movement

The Let There Be Light Conference on September 7, 2024, will be a unique opportunity to meditate collectively and learn how to wear the Word in unity with thousands of believers. Together, we’ll experience the power of meditating on holy ground.

Until then, let’s commit to carrying God’s Word daily, creating a lifestyle of meditation and spiritual awareness.

Peace In!
