Reflect On The Past Year With Meditation

Welcome HoM! As we approach the final moments of this year, take a deep breath and pause. You have made it—through every challenge, every victory, every unseen battle. But hear me, you didn’t just make it. You were carried. Sustained. Defended. Before we step into what lies ahead, let’s take this sacred moment to reflect and give thanks.

The power of reflection.

Too often, we rush into the next thing—focused on what’s next, what’s missing, what hasn’t come to pass. But today, we shift our gaze. We train our spirits to recognize the hand of God over our lives. Gratitude is not just a response—it is a discipline, a habit, a way of seeing life.

Psalm 1:2 reminds us: "But his delight is in the law of the Lord, and in His law, he meditates day and night." Meditation is focused thinking. It is choosing to dwell on what is good, what is true, what is worthy of praise. And today, we meditate on gratitude.

A testimony of divine protection.

Earlier this year, our church was broken into. Someone entered, took what didn’t belong to them, and left destruction in their wake. But let me tell you what happened next—God defended His house. The stolen items were returned. Insurance covered the losses. And in the end, we upgraded to even better equipment. What the enemy meant for evil, God turned for good.

Now listen—this didn’t happen randomly. The theme for that very month was Defended. And God showed us, not just in scripture, but in action, that He backs His word.

Now pause. What has God protected you from this year? Maybe it was an accident that never happened, a sickness that never took hold, a financial collapse that didn’t come to pass. Think on it. Let gratitude rise in your spirit.

A testimony of supernatural provision.

This year, our church also acquired 153 acres of land. Paid in full. No debts. No pressure. Just the hand of God. And it all started with faith. When the vision came, some doubted. Some wondered, Can this really happen? But hear me—faith moves things. And faith moved us forward.

Now, I ask you—where has God provided for you this year? Maybe in ways you didn’t even recognize at the time. Maybe through a job, a connection, a moment of unexpected favor. Take a moment and acknowledge it. Gratitude magnifies blessings.

How to meditate on your testimonies:

Gratitude is not a vague feeling—it is a practice. Here’s how to cultivate it:

  1. Look back intentionally: Open your photos, journal, or calendar. What has God done?

  2. Speak it out: Say, "Lord, I thank You for…" and list your testimonies.

  3. Write it down: Keep a record of the faithfulness of God. The enemy wants you to forget. Don’t.

  4. Visualize the future: What are you believing for in the coming year? Speak it with confidence. Declare it as though it’s already done.

Psalm 145:5 says, "I will meditate on the glorious splendor of Your majesty, and on Your wondrous works." This is how we step into the new year—not with anxiety, but with expectation.

Take one more deep breath. You are here. You are loved. You are covered. And if God has done this much in 2023, imagine what He will do in 2024.

God bless you. Happy New Year! Let’s step forward with faith!
